Brian Dowling and Arthur Gourounlian’s long awaited surrogacy documentary will be coming to our screens soon, as a release date has finally been set.
Back in September, Brian and Arthur welcome their first child, a daughter named Blake, via surrogacy. With Brian’s sister Aoife acting as surrogate for the pair.
Their journey into fatherhood was documented for the upcoming show, Brian and Arthur’s Very Modern Family.
Brian revealed the family were filming the TV special back while Aoife was pregnant, so fans have been eagerly anticipating the documentary for quite a while. But, the wait is nearly over as RTÉ have its premiere date.
With the documentary hitting our screens on the 13th of March.
Brian and Arthur’s Very Modern Family will document every aspect of their journey to fatherhood, from discovering they were expecting, preparing their nursery, welcoming baby Blake, and adjusting to parenthood.
Along with Aoife’s experience as a surrogate, chronically aspects of the pregnancy like her post-partum carpal tunnel and Ireland’s battle for better surrogacy legislation.
Filming on the documentary wrapped at the end of January, with Brian sharing what is to be expected from the show.
Writing on Instagram: “It was all about Blake & for Blake & for any other families in our situation that just want to have the opportunity to be able to have their families here in Ireland, safely and respectfully in the same way everyone else does”.
“Clearly Arthur and I are not experts in this department but this documentary is just our honest experience at what we faced and overcame in the process of becoming fathers,” he added.
And that’s not the only exciting new media venture in the family, as Brian has been announced as 98fm’s newest presenter.
He’ll be joining the the line-up alongside Suzanne Kane, taking to the waves Monday to Friday from 11am to 1pm.
