Brendan O’Connor is set to make his €1m return to RTE, after his new panel show was given the green light by the station.

The presenter had apparently filmed three pilots for the new panel show, which has now been commissioned by RTE.

A source has told The Sun, “It was a bear pit of a show with Brendan the ringmaster of the circus. It really suited him.”

The new show will reportedly run for 16 weeks, kicking off in May, before he returning to our screens again in the autumn.

The source said, “The new show has such a long run because Brendan has a tv contract to appear on RTE TV for that many hours from his Saturday Night Show. RTE has to match the same amount of hours on screen with his new show.

“Brendan was getting incredible ratings on Saturday nights. People will be tuning in for Brendan most of all. RTE One is his audience.

“Brendan regularly writes about the state of the nation and his new programme might reflect that, but he can do comedy too.”

Now while we’re intrigued, unfortunately RTE aren’t giving away any further details.

A spokesperson for the station told newspaper, “Given that the show is still in development, we’re not in a position to comment on what form the final show may take, or how long it will run for.”
