Brendan O’Carroll revealed details about Rory Cowan’s Mrs Brown’s Boys replacement on last  night’s Late Late Show.

The star of the BBC comedy show has had to replace long term co-star and friend Rory after he made the decision to leave the show after 16 years.

Speaking to Ryan Tubridy last night, the funnyman revealed that he knew Rory was ready to go.

“Anybody who knows Rory knows that when he makes his mind up, he’s made his mind up.

“I don’t think he was happy for a long time on the road. But at the end of that day, here’s the reason why Rory went, because he wanted to.

“In the end I was glad to see him happy.”

The 58-year-old played Mrs Brown’s son Rory, and fans have been eagerly awaiting the announcement as to who will take up the role next.

“We never lost the old Rory,” Brendan revealed.

“Rory Cowan is gone but Rory Brown never left.

“He went for plastic surgery. It was successful they say, but we won’t know until the bandages come off on Christmas day.

“But when you do see him, you’ll go ‘Oh my god… it just makes sense.

Rory announced his decision to give up his role as Rory Brown in July, and said he knew it was his time to go.

“I hadn’t been happy working for the Mrs Brown’s Boys company for the last 18 months to two years,” Rory told the Daily Mail.

“I feel that 26 years is enough so I decided it was time to go. I told Brendan on June 16 about my decision to leave. That’s when I handed in my notice.

“I was supposed to leave at the end of that week, but Brendan said that would be impossible and asked if I’d stay on until the end of the London O2 gigs. So I agreed to that.”
