Last month, Bord Gáis Energy Theatre launched a Nationwide Dance Competition to celebrate the Irish premiere season of the internationally acclaimed musical, Billy Elliot which will open on July 26th September 3rd 2016 for the first time in Ireland this summer. Taking inspiration from the musicals phenomenal choreography and from Billys inspirational story; the national dance competition called on dancers from all over the country to share their own passion for dance for a chance to attend the Irish premiere of BILLY ELLIOT THE MUSICAL at Bord Gáis Energy Theatre
Over 100 dancers from all over Ireland descended on Grand Canal Square ahead of the National Billy Elliot Dance competition grand finale taking place in Bord Gáis Energy Theatre.
On the back of a phenomenal response from dancers all over the country, Bord Gáis Energy Theatre announced the top ten finalists of the National Billy Elliot Dance competition who competed for a chance to attend the Irish premiere of BILLY ELLIOT THE MUSICAL.
The grand finale was hosted by presenter, blogger and Snapchat superstar, James Butler and showcased some of the countrys best young talent perform their very own Billy Elliot inspired routines who performed in front of an esteemed panel of judges: Stephen Faloon; General Manager, Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Simon Mulcahy; RTÉ Swipe TV presenter, up and coming popstar Bonnie Ryan.
