Baz Ashmawy has set the record straight about the possibility of presenting Ireland’s Got Talent.
The telly star has been busy with his RTE radio show That Baz Thing, over the summer months, and is now preparing to film his new series of documentaries for RTE television.
Rumours emerged today that the 42-year-old was in the running to host TV3’s newest talent show when it hits our screens later on this year. However, Baz says he “thinks it’s gossip.”
“Not particularly, one one has spoken to my agent or anything like that,” he exclusively told VIP Magazine.
“At the moment I’m here in RTE and have big plans to do a couple of docs here so that’s it at the moment.
“But no I haven’t heard anything, I’ve heard it through journalists but no has talked to me, I think it’s gossip.”
The 50 Ways To Kill Your Mammy star will be looking into Ireland’s relationship with gambling in the first of his documentaries for RTE, and he hopes to open people’s eyes to the dangers that lie in online gambling addiction.
“I wanted to do documentaries that are important or that I was interested in,” Baz revealed.
“And gambling is one in Ireland that I just think, out of all the addictions, it’s the one that… you know if someone suffers from alcoholism or drugs it’s a visual thing, you can see it. But gambling is very targeted when someone is dealing with it.
“In a time where shop fronts are closing down, bookies don’t seem to be. And then there’s online gambling. Drug dealers go to bed and pubs close but gambling is this world that is there constantly, and seems to be growing.
“Irish people love a day at the races, but there’s a balance and there’s a lot of people suffering.”
We can’t wait to tune into this!
