DIY SOS presenter Baz Ashmawy has revealed he’s back living with his mother Nancy after his son’s contracted Covid-19.
Speaking on RTÉ Radio 1 while he fills in for Ryan Tubridy, he said, “Thankfully they’re doing grand, they’re okay, they just had flu-like symptoms but nothing to be overly worried about”.
Of course this means Baz can’t go home at the moment to prevent himself catching the virus. His wife Tanja is home with the children and Baz had to arrange other living quarters for a while, “I softly suggested, ‘Well sure I can check into a hotel for the week right?’…To say I was met with hostility and some of the language was… it was a colourful display of obscenities, let me just tell you that.
“I quickly diffused her rage by adding ‘Or I could just sleep in my mom’s box room.’”
He then confirmed he is now living in his childhood bedroom, “It is nearly the exact same, only my Star Wars wallpaper has now been replaced with a lot of pink going on…It is obviously for when my daughter’s stay for sleepovers when they’re there.”
Nancy is a true Irish Mammy, still sending him to bed no matter what age he is, “I haven’t slept in my mum’s house for 25 years, maybe. Like, she sent me to bed last night,” Baz said.
“I was watching Inception on Sky movies and, I kid you not, she sent me to bed because ‘You have to do the radio in the morning’. I know, I’m 46 years old. I know what I’m doing,” he continued.
Baz used to have a show with his mother called 50 Ways To Kill Your Mammy, and has recently revealed that they were both scouted to take part in reality TV show, I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here after the show.
Although they turned down the offer we can imagine these two would have been hilarious on the show.
