For anyone in the public eye something that sadly goes part and parcel with the job is people not liking you, and letting you know about it.
It could be the comment section under an article, a nasty DM or even something said to you in public, there are always trolls out there looking to bring you down.
Baz Ashmawy has revealed that so far in his career he has been fortunate enough to never experience this.
The presenter was speaking with The Irish Sun when he shared that he feels very fortunate to only have has positive experiences with the general public.
“I was walking down the street with a well-known person one day, and I was shocked because they were getting so much s*** on the street from people. Nasty comments from people shouting at them. They seemed used to the abuse and just shrugged it off and went on.”
“But it must be horrible when you get that sort of abuse — and it happens when you’re out with your kids.”
The DIY SOS star went on to say that this is something he has never had to deal with, instead he seems to get the opposite reaction!
“It made me feel so fortunate I have bus drivers beeping and taxi drivers waving at me, and everybody is so nice.”
Baz also added that he feels like lockdown has made this type of abuse worse, especially on social media. People being stuck at home and feeling angry about their situation are lashing out at public figures.
He shared; “We are in a time now where a lot of people are p***ed off and they want to take it out on other people who they don’t really see as human beings.”
“They see them as entities, who in their eyes have things that they don’t have, or are having a better time.”
