Barry Keoghan has opened up about tragically losing his mother to addiction when he was just twelve years old.
After she passed away aged 31, Barry was put into foster care for some time before being raised by his aunt and grandmother.
Speaking about the experience on last night’s Living with Lucy, he revealed how he appreciates everything they did for him.
Barry also spoke candidly about his mum, revealing he has “great memories of her”.
“She was gorgeous, she was tall, she was good fun,” he told Lucy.
Barry knows she’s with him all the time, and regularly looks to her for guidance before a big job.
“Even before every audition I say a little prayer because you want to have that little push going in,” he said. “I believe she’s here with me on this journey.”
Viewers were overcome with emotion watching the episode, and had nothing but praise for the Irish star.
