Cork artist Bambie Thug wowed the audience at Eurosong last Friday and as a result, was voted to represent Ireland on the Eurovision stage in May.

Yes, Bambie’s captivating performance with “Doomsday Blue” secured victory over the five other contenders for the coveted Eurovision bid.

However, despite, winning both the national jury and public vote some people were still not happy with the decision and had no problem sharing their negative comments online.

Now, Bambie has taken to the social media platform  X, urging online users to refrain from engaging in hate speech.

“Sending love and kindness to all of you who are enraged by my beautiful Art – remember it’s theatre and chill out,” they wrote.

“I’m not gonna reply to any of the hate directly, but I will say; remember I am a human too,” Bambie shared in a written statement.

“I am a hard-working person who has pushed down doors for myself my whole life. I have gone through so much trauma and still show up with love after every obstacle and hard time.”

They added: “I have always been a phoenix, and your words and warped views cannot hurt me. My pursuit is Love and healing! If my expression of Art moves you to hate and anger then you are who I send the most love to.”

Bambie made it clear, that if you’re not a fan of their work, no one is obligated to follow them on this journey.

Adding: “But do yourself a favour and don’t waste your life hung up on hate, internalised homophobia, misogyny, transphobia, and self-hate.

“Practice self-compassion, and perhaps you will learn to live in love.”

Well said Bambie!
