They may have starred together in Steve Jobs, but Kate Winslet is not backing Michael Fassbender to win an Oscar.
Instead the actress is giving her Titantic co-star Leonardo DiCaprio her full support instead, saying it’s his year to be successful in the Best Actor category.
And although she praised Kerryman Michael’s performance as the Apple co-founder as “extraordinary”, she admitted she wants it for Leo that little bit more.
Speaking to the BBC, she said: “I think you can sort of feel it, and I think that everyone wants it for him… It would be amazing.
“It’s slightly difficult for me too, because Michael Fassbender has been nominated, and I was his right-hand woman for three months while we were making Steve Jobs and I saw how hard he worked. I think his performance is so extraordinary.
“But I think, yeah, you can sort of feel the temperature. It’s probably going to be Leo’s year,” she added.
Well, we here at VIP Towers have our fingers crossed for Michael, who was previously nominated for an Academy Award for his role in 12 years a Slave. The ceremony will take place on February 28 in Hollywood.
