Ireland’s hottest new hurler Austin Gleeson has opened up about his relationship status.
The current Young Hurler of the Year is preparing to lead his Waterford teammates out in his first ever All-Ireland Final on September 3rd, and couldn’t be more excited.
In the run up to the big day, the 22-year-old has spilled the beans about whether or not his busy schedule leaves him with any time for a love life.
“No, no I don’t, not anymore anyway.” Austin told VIP Magazine.
“I have no love life at this moment in time anyway, but we’ll see what happens after that.”
Speaking about the female attention he has been receiving since taking to the pitch, the LittleWoods Ireland Style ambassador says he is thankful for the anonymity of a helmet!
“It’s not been too bad I suppose. But then in Waterford it’s a lot harder to be known because no one really recognises you without the helmet,” he laughs. “Thankfully, I won’t complain about it.”
The 2016 All-Star also revealed that his family have had to adjust to his new found fame.
“My mother works in a cafe down in one of the gyms in Waterford. Even people from Cúl camps and and all the kids that are doing things down there are asking ‘Are you Austin Gleeson’s mother?’
“My sister is a receptionist down in the same gym and she’s been asked the same question. So It’s a bit mad, but at the moment yeah the family are definitely recognised.”
