Daniel and Majella O’Donnell are celebrating their 13th wedding anniversary, and the pair look just as happy today as they did in Donegal back in 2002.
The couple walked down the aisle of St. Mary’s Church in Kincasslagh, followed by a stroll around the town to thank well-wishers for coming out to see them.
Daniel exclusively revealed to us at the time, “That was the way we wanted it – nice and relaxed. Majella wanted it to be that way too. She understands how much I enjoy being with people.
“There were a lot of people there that I new by name and it was very emotional. They all started to sing Danny Boy and My Donegal Shore which was one of the first songs I recorded. It was very touching.”
The day didn’t go off as seamlessly as planned however, as poor Majella got locked out of her own wedding – or rather locked in a house, and couldn’t make it to the ceremony on time.
“The service lasted almost two hours and Majella was late,” said Daniel. “She was locked in the house.”
“We have security gates on one of those buzzers and the bridesmaids and everyone had already gone, so it was just Majella and her father, but the gates wouldn’t open for them and it took almost 20 minutes to open the gates – and she had warned me not to be late,” he laughed.
Daniel told us how he first met Majella in Tenerife three years before they decided to get married, and now according to reports in the Irish Daily Mail, the couple are back to where they started over a decade later – sunning themselves on the popular island where they own a house.
