Aoibhin Garrihy has opened up about the stresses of mum-life during lockdown, admitting that she and her husband, John sometimes go to extreme lengths to get five minute’s peace.
Chatting candidly with Muireann O’Connell and Martin King on The Six O Clock Show, Aoibhin said that life in lockdown with two children under the age of two has its challenges, particularly when it comes to getting work done.
The former Fair City star said that she and her husband sometimes have to take it in turns to pop out to their car and get some work done in peace.
“We do a bit of a tag team in this house, of course, we have the two babies under two and we are confined to the house most of the time but when we need to send an email or get something done I go out to the car and they don’t know where I’m gone and I can escape and John does the same and that’s how we have to work it,” Aoibhin revealed.

Continuing to speak about life at the minute, the entrepreneur admits that she takes each day at a time, allowing the ‘rollercoaster’ of emotions to wash over her, and most importantly appreciating the precious time she gets to spend with her family.
“It’s a rollercoaster at the minute and yes there are times where I feel like the walls are closing and then we have really special and magical moments that we’ll look back on and say, ‘That was glorious and we didn’t realise how special it was”
While coronavirus is difficult for everyone in different ways, Aoibhin says that she’s finding being away from her parents particularly hard, especially as they are missing vital moments in both Hannora and Liobhan’s life.
She said:”I haven’t seen my parents in months and my kids are the first grandkids they are just yearning for them and without Facetime, we would just be lost.”
Aoibhin gave birth to her youngest daughter, Liobhan, back in November of last year, just 5 months ago.
