Aoibhin Garrihy has opened up about her husband John Burke’s upcoming Mount Everest climb.

The Dancing With The Stars contestant has worries about her hubby’s climb of the tallest peak in the world, but despite the dangers she understands that the trek is a dream of his.

Speaking to Irish Country Magazine Aoibhin said, “Everest is something John has been talking about for seven years, so I need to be there for him with that.

“It’s not a case of: ‘Bye, see you when you get back,’ I mean he might not come back.”

The former Fair City actor plans to be with her new husband at basecamp when he sets off on his journey, and then she won’t see him again for roughly two months.

“You’re sitting around waiting for a weather window for a long time before you actually do the climb so there’s a lot of hanging around base – you go a bit demented, I think.

“So a lot of it is having someone there to see you through those days and I feel like I need to dedicate my time to that,” she said.

We wish John the best of luck on his mission.
