Anna Geary has shared a sweet tribute post to her time on Ireland’s Fittest Family’s after having to step down from the show to focus on the birth of her child.

The TV host is expecting her first child this summer, with Olympic star Sonia O’Sullivan replacing her as coach.

Following the announcement that she would not be participating in this year’s season, Anna took to Instagram to mark her time on the hit show.

“Ireland’s Fittest Family is centred around family, so it’s apt that I won’t be involved for this season because our baby is due while the show is being filmed!”

“No one wants to go into labour while knee-deep in a bog,” she jokingly added.

Speaking about her replacement, Anna said: “Having fellow Cork woman, Sonia O’Sullivan, filling in this series is incredible. She’s a sporting hero of sooo many (including me!!!)”

Sharing how she’ll miss the “buzz” of the show, Anna noted that she was looking forward to seeing Sonia push her families to their limits.

“I couldn’t think of anyone better to take on Davy, Donncha and Nina and put them to the test. I hope they’re ready for her. Looking forward to seeing the rivalries unfold!”

Before concluding her post, Anna couldn’t help but congratulate new host Laura Fox who will be taking over from Mairéad Ronan, as well as share some helpful advice for the newbie!

“Congrats to @foxylaura10 who’s also joining the gang as the new presenter.

“Laura, make sure to pack the essentials – insect repellent, a good rain jacket & a GPS tracker for Davy.”

Wise words Anna!
