Get ready as Angela Scanlon is going to hit the dance floor on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The Meath native was announced as one of the first six contestants on BBC Radio Two.
Speaking on their breakfast radio show, Angela said: “I’m terrified, I’m excited and I have so many questions. Will they make me tan? How itchy are sequins?! Do they do flesh coloured sports bras? Well – there’s only one way to find out, right!?”
Explaining why she wanted to take on Strictly, the presenter confessed she had been offered a spot in the series before but was waiting for the right time and wanted to take on the challenge.
Saying: “It’s kind of been in the ether for a number of years.”
“We’ve been close and then, truthfully we wanted to have another baby. We were trying to have a baby, I was then pregnant, then I had a very small child. And now, it just felt right this year.”
“I believe in feelings and timing, and all of those sort of things.”
“Look I’m not particularly fit, I’ve no idea how my pelvic floor is going to react to that level of jumping. I’ve never done any of these dances in my life. Bar a drunken jive at a family wedding. It certainly feels like there’s is room to learn and to really push myself, and challenge myself.”
The Ask Me Anything host received plenty of support in the comment section.
Ireland AM’s Muireann O’Connell joked: “Come on the pelvic floor… and all that tan, wha! So looking forward to seeing you!”
Chef Donal Skehan wrote: “Wahey! Go on Angela!”
Comedian AJ Odudu said: “Go on Angela!”
Actress Amy Huberman commented: “Scanners YAY! You’ll be amazing!!”
