Angela Scanlon is all set to take to the Strictly Come Dancing page for the first time this weekend.
The tv presenter has said she’s particularly looking forward to learning how to dance the Rumba even if she feels it will be “grossly uncomfortable for me and everybody watching”. Angela is one of 15 competitors taking to the stage on the beloved BBC live dance show competing to win the coveted Glitter Ball trophy.
The launch episode for the show was filmed last week but will be shown on tv this Saturday. The episode will see each of the fifteen competitors paired up with their pro counterparts ahead of the Live BBCOne shows.

Speaking to PA News Angela said: “This interim period of being announced, to waiting for a partner was excruciating, and then you’re kind of in this limbo where you’re neither on nor off, so I think we’re all quite relieved to get [a partner].”
The Meath born lady is all about leaning into things that make you uncomfortable, so it’s only right she was apprehensive about one particular dance – the rumba.
“In the vein of leaning into things that are uncomfortable, I feel like the rumba will be grossly uncomfortable for me and everybody watching… going right to the edge of discomfort, so I’m here to learn,” she said. “For me, I think my mentality is usually ‘Say yes, figure it out later.”

The rumba is a notoriously difficult dance to master so talking about how she feels now in the lead up, Angela says: “There’s been a bit of maybe blindly agreeing and then realising just how much is involved and how exposed I actually feel.”
We can’t wait to see the Irish bombshell take part in the beloved dance show, fingers crossed everyone!
