Angela Scanlon has been taking a trip down memory lane and has recalled a fond childhood memory – which she credits her fearless personality for.
As she officially launched LISTERINE’S Bring Out The Bold campaign in Ireland, which is encouraging people to make the most out of life, the broadcaster reminisced about a brave moment from when she was a child.
“A giant yellow slide in Trabologan was my childhood version of ‘the one that got away’ and the thing that reminds me to be bold every single day,” she revealed. “It seemed so colossal and I just couldn’t bring myself to risk it! I was scared of heights and each day I would scale the big winding steps, take a look, bottle it and skulk back down.”
The TV broadcaster continued that, despite numerous defeats, she kept trying and this perseverance taught her a life long lesson.
“I felt defeated and frustrated as I watched everyone being spat out the bottom into the plunge pool. On the very last day after countless attempts I was determined to finally do it. I climbed the steps (again) and nervously pushed myself off the edge,” she said.
“It was the BEST goddamn ride of my life! I spent the next 3 hours legging it up and flying back down until I was eventually dragged away. There’s a point… It taught me to do the things I fear most first, not to wait until it’s too late.”
VIP is making it our mission this week to follow in the presenter’s footsteps and #BringOutTheBold – whether it be asking for that new promotion in work, finally asking out your crush or going skydiving, LISTERINE want you to go for it and share it on social media, using the hashtag. Go, go, go!
