Angela Scanlon has spoken out in support for One Direction star Zayn Malik writing an open and honest letter to his fans explaining why he had to cancel his concert last night.
The singer was due to take to the stage in the UK last night but had to cancel because of his anxiety.
However, rather than making up an excuse for cancelling he wrote a letter to his fans explaining that prominent feelings of anxiety were the reason for his cancellation.
He said, “Unfortunately my anxiety has haunted me throughout the last few months around live performances have gotten the better of me.
“With the magnitude of the event (tonight) I have suffered the worst anxiety of my career.
“I can not apologise enough but I want to be honest with everyone who has patiently waited to see me,
“I promise I will do my best to make this up to everyone I’ve let down today.”
Angela Scanlon was impressed by Zayn’s open honesty and took to Twitter saying, “It’s a hugely positive thing that @zaynmalik is speaking honestly & openly about his mental health…”
The broadcaster also took to Twitter today to show further support to Zayn by posting an article she wrote about her experience with anxiety.
