Al Porter has responded to false reports that he had been found dead by a family friend.
Yesterday, a fake story emerged online, claiming he had passed away.
After the piece had been sent to his family and friends, the comedian, formerly of Today FM, took to social media to respond to the rumours.
TW: suicide
This has been sent to family and friends of mine today. This is a fake that’s doing the roundsThe sick part of this is I know many people who have taken their own lives. It’s beyond tragic and is a deep sadness that has visited far too many in Ireland pic.twitter.com/OYhfAl9Aw9

The Irish Mirror has since released a statement slamming the false reports, and revealed they had been ‘misappropriated’.
“We want to clarify that the fake news article concerning the death of Al Porter circulating on social media was not published by the Irish Daily Mirror or irishmirror.ie,” they said.
“We have no association with this story whatsoever. Our masthead has been misappropriated by whoever published this false article.
This article was not published by Irish Mirror or any of our titles. It has nothing to do with us.”
Al Porter spoke about the awful reports, and shared suicide prevention hotlines for anyone affected by the story.
“I know I’m not perfect. I know I’m flawed, like us all. I have listened to the criticisms since 2017.
“I continue to work on being the kindest and best version of myself I can be,” the 24-year-old posted on Twitter.
“Still, I’ve received all kinds of abuse online and I take it. But not this.”
