Al Porter is certainly not impressed with the line up for RTE’s upcoming production, Dancing With The Stars. The 23-year-old comedian joked that there is nothing ‘celebrity’ about the show at all, claiming that it doesn’t begin to compare with the UK version.
Speaking in his column in the Irish Daily Star, Tallaght native Al took jabs at a number of the contestants, including weather reporter Teresa Mannion, Hometown singer Dayl Cronin, and fellow comedian Katherine Lynch.
“There’s the gag that the only celebrity in the show is in the title of it but I think it should be called ‘RTE’s Dancing with the Stars.’ No offence to the lovely Teresa Mannion but Hollywood hasn’t been knocking.
“Of course, the UK Strictly is bigger, their audience is massive. But still, one of ours is an ex-dancer and ex-member of ex-boyband Hometown. That’s more exes than Taylor Swift has. Hometown were nice lads but they kept their records so quiet it would make Gerry Adams jealous!
“Rumour has it Katherine Lynch is acting the Diva behind the scenes. You may remember Katherine Lynch from the last season of Operation Celebrity Transformation where they tried to turn her into a celebrity,” he said.
Dancing With The Stars kicks off this Sunday at 6:30pm on RTE One.
