Former Xpose presenter Aisling O’Loughlin has defended herself against recent claims made by TV3.

Last weekend the station spoke out about the Xpose’s recent ratings hike, and attributed the boost to the show’s new format, which saw presenters Lisa Cannon, Peter O’Riordan and Aisling O’Loughlin being axed.

Aisling has now fought back at these claims and feels she must defend her own reputation, branding TV3’s allegations as “misleading, disingenuous and antagonistic.”

Speaking to The Herald Aisling said, “I’m a one-woman show now and I’m not a big brand. All I have is my reputation and ultimately it’s about the truth and that can be a subjective thing.

She felt that the claims were misleading.

“During the time I was there, we could hit around 100,000 or 90,0000 viewers and that was grand, 70,000 was a bit uh-oh and 60,000 was bad. So, in fact, the show has dropped since we were on it.

“The numbers have gone up in recent weeks but that’s always going to happen when you go from an hour-long show to a half-hour slot.

“The figures were construed in a way that implied the ratings were lower when we were on the show. I found that misleading, disingenuous and antagonistic. I gave it my all, I worked very hard for the show, as did Lisa and Peter.

“If an employer were to Google me now, this story’s going to come up and they’re going to think, ‘Ah it’s her fault the ratings were down’.

“That’s the thing that’s bothering me. I was happy to say nothing and I would have kept my mouth shut if it wasn’t implied that this was down to me, Lisa and Peter. But I have to defend my reputation.”
