Aidan Turner has achieved a huge accolade by landing a coveted spot in the September issue of Vogue. The Dubliner appears in the British version of the mag alongside his Poldark co-star, Eleanor Tomlinson.
Both Aidan and Eleanor, who star as husband and wife in Poldark, however the actress revealed that while she certainly fancies her co-star, she couldn’t see herself dating the 33-year-old.
“He’s beautiful to look at, so it’s hard not to fancy him, but fortunately we don’t feel like that about each other!
“We’re great friends but we disagree all the time. We’ve both got a temper, we’re both strong people; there are definitely similarities between us and our characters,” she said.
In the magazine, Aidan admitted that he’s shocked at how successful Poldark has become, saying, “the whole thing is a bit preposterous, it’s kind of nuts, you know; I got a little bit overwhelmed.
“We were all taken aback a bit by its success. It’s a strange experience to have that happen.”
It would have been impossible to get through an interview without mentioning Aidan’s striking good looks – including that famous topless scene. However, the actor insists that the scene wasn’t manipulated to be a fave of females everywhere.
“When you’re playing the character, you don’t think, ‘I look really hot in this scene.’ If I was wearing a shirt in the middle of the summer doing that kind of manual work, that for me would have been odd. It was quite truthful and real for me, that’s the funny thing,” he said.
Either way, we still love it!
