With Valentine’s just around the corner, now is the time to get planning the perfect movie night and to help we’ve compiled a list of 10 of the best rom-coms.
Clueless
First up on the list is of course Clueless.
This classic rom-com is an adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel Emma and follows the story of scheming matchmaker Cher, who is then surprised by her own romance.
Starring Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd, Brittney Murphy, and Stacey Dash, Clueless is the perfect romantic comedy rewatch or watch for the first time (as if) this Valentine’s.
How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days
Alexa play You’re So Vain by Carly Simpson.
This iconic film with Kate Hudson and Mattew McConaughey is a must-see rom-com.
The film follows the story of Composure Magazine writer Andie Anderson, who is on a mission to lose a guy in 10 days so she can write an article about it.
However, the guy she chooses for the article also has a work-related motive and wants to make Andie fall in love with him.
If you haven’t already seen this film you are in for a treat – you’ll laugh and you’ll cry.
Anyone But You
Who doesn’t love enemies to lovers rom-com?
Anyone But You is a hilarious retelling of Shakespeare’s comedy Much Ado About Nothing.
Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell play the leading roles of Bea and Ben, who pretend to fall in love while at Bea’s sister’s wedding so their friends and family will stop trying to set them up.
This rom-com is still in cinemas and would make the perfect date night this Valentine’s!
Love Simon
Simon Spier is a high schooler who just wants to fit in, but he has a secret that’s making it difficult.
He hasn’t told anyone that he’s gay and he doesn’t know who the anonymous classmate he has fallen in love with online is.
This timeless teen rom-com is so adorable and will have you smiling throughout the film.
Notting Hill
Is there anything better than a Hugh Grant rom-com?
A famous actress, played by Julia Roberts and the owner of a travel book shop in Notting Hill, played by High Grant fall in love.
Julia Roberts’ character, Anna Scott may be a famous film star but as she tells Hugh Grant’s character Willam Thacker, she’s also “just a girl standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.”
Enchanted
In this fairytale rom-com, Amy Adams stars as a cartoon princess who is brough to life and falls in love with a divorce lawyer played by Patrick Dempsy.
Sixteen Candles
There is nothing better than a good old-fashioned rom-com.
Sixteen Candles stars the one and only Molly Ringwald who plays Samantha Baker. Samantha wakes up on her 16th birthday to find that her family has forgotten her birthday.
However, things start to look up for Samantha when Jake, whom Samantha has a crush on, comes into the picture.
We’re definitely rewatching this classic!
Love Rosie
Lily Collins and Sam Claflin star in this rom-com all about the right person, wrong time.
Based on the book Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahearn, Love Rosie follows the story of best friends Rosie Dunne and Alex Stewart as they grow up together.
Alex and Rosie are meant to be together but between miss communications and bad timing, they keep missing each other.
10 Things I Hate About You
This rom-com is another spin on one of Shakespeare’s works Taming of the Shrew and stars Julia Stiles as Kat and Heath Ledger as Patrick.
Patrick is paid to take out Kat, so that another character can go out with Kat’s younger sister, who isn’t allowed to date unless Kat does.
Who knew Shakespeare could be so entertaining?
When Harry Met Sally
Lastly, we have the romantic comedy of all romantic comedies When Harry Met Sally.
This film poses the question can men and women really be just friends?
Harry doesn’t think so, but Sally wants to prove him wrong.
Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal star in this charming, chatty, and hilarious rom-com.
