Maisie Peters exploded onto the music scene in 2021 when she was discovered by the one and only Ed Sheeran.

The 23-year-old has toured with Ed around the world in his latest tour and when VIP Magazine sits down with her she gushes about her love for Ireland.

Her second album, The Good Witch, dropped this week and she’s ready to move into the next stage of her career.

Here’s how we spent 10 minutes with Maisie Peters…

Hi Maisie, how are you? How are you finding Ireland?

I love Ireland. We’ve only been here for like…we got in very late last night, so not very many hours. [Laughs] But it’s always a really good time.

You toured here with Ed Sheeran and he’s Ireland’s adopted son…

I know! I saw it with my own eyes.

You opened for him in massive stadiums. So would you enjoy headlining stadium tours right now or is that something you want to build up to?

I mean, throw me in and I would give it a go. I had the best time supporting Ed and opening his shows. I’m playing my own show in Dublin in the 3Olympia and I’ve never played my own show in Ireland. So it’s going to be pretty wild.

Your first album was coming-of-age, and your second album, The Good Witch, is a bit edgier. So what is the inspiration behind it?

It’s really just my life. I wrote it last year. It really just chronicles and documents what I experienced last year. It’s a pretty accurate description of who I was when I was 22.

You’ve exploded on TikTok. What is that like?

Social media is always a weird place. But I think TikTok is such a funny place. I love the humour and people are so funny on TikTok. It’s important to not get too bogged down with it and to know that music is so much more than how it’s marketed and shared. But it’s an important part of it and I love the community on there.

Okay, so what is the first thing you did when you woke up?

I brushed my teeth. I woke up with 20 minutes to get ready, which is my go-to. I give myself half an hour, 20 minutes to get ready. And I can do it. I can arguably do it in 15 but I had to be seen today. I’m all about sleep for the maximum amount of time.

Who would play you in a film?

I would love Emma Stone to play me. I think she’s amazing. I started straightening my hair so I’ve been getting a lot of comments comparing me to Gwen Stacey [Emma Stone’s character The Amazing Spider-Man].

So would Andrew Garfield play your love interest?

Absolutely! Sign me up!

How would you spend your perfect day?

I think I would wake up super late. It would be super sunny and I would hang out in the park with my friends. We would go to the pub, have some drinks, get some food. It’s not complicated, it’s super do-able. I’m going for a lying-in-the-park-looking-dead vibe.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

I don’t screengrab the advice in my mind so it’s really hard to remember it. But I will say – Always take your makeup off before you go to sleep. I wear too much makeup so it would be tricky to sleep in.

Who are three ideal dinner guests?

I guess I would say Stanley Tucci, legend, Viola Davis, legend and Michelle Yeoh. I feel like they would have some very interesting stories to tell. And I picked three actors…interesting…

What TV show or book would you like to erase from your memory and rewatch or reread all over again?

I, like the rest of the world, have just finished Succession. The best show of all time. I would love to watch that again. I am a Shiv Roy Girlie. But I respect Kendall Roy Girlies. I mean Jeremy Strong, he can come to the dinner party.

What are you binge-watching at the minute?

Nothing really. I’m constantly on the backburner rewatching Girls. It’s just something to keep me going. I don’t really watch many things. Now Succession is over I don’t know what to do. I mean, if I’m not working for Waystar Royco who am I? [Laughs]

If you couldn’t be a musician what would you be doing?

I’d probably be a teacher. I like the sound of my own voice. I don’t like listening to other people. Some form of attention.

Where is your favourite place on earth?

My favourite place? That’s a big one. I love Paris. When I’m in Paris I’m very happy. I also love beaches, like Byron Bay in Australia. That was beautiful.

Who is the person you look up to the most?

That’s a very tough question. My parents, for sure.

What is on your bucket list?

I still need to jump out of a plane. I almost did it this year. I was in Adelaide on tour and a bunch of people were going. But then too many things happened. I was a bit nervous about it. But then stuff started happening. It had to be pushed later because of the weather. There are too many signs from Spirit. But now I’ve said I’ll do it, I have to do it.

Before we let you go, can we talk about the rumours you’ll support Taylor Swift on her European tour dates? We are manifesting it for you!

Manifest it, please! But look…we’ll just have to wait and see.

Maisie Peters second album, The Good Witch is out now. She will play the 3Olympia on October 26th
