Ahhh! Sorry, but we just can’t stop cringing about Michael Fassbender’s appearance on the BAFTAs’ kiss cam segment last night, when he refused to even give girlfriend Alicia Vikander a peck on the cheek.
The fiercely private Hollywood couple refused to take part in the fun and games when the camera focused on them, and it was so awkward that the moment was cut from the BBC broadcast.
According to yahoo.com: “The resulting moment was so awkward the producers decided to cut it from the live show. Poor show Michael, particularly on the most romantic night of the year.”
Much to the relief of presenter Stephen Fry, other A-listers were willing to take part in the comical skit, including Stanley Tucci, Cuba Gooding Jr., Leonardo DiCaprio, Dame Maggie Smith, Julianne Moore and Bryan Cranston.
Michael and Alicia have reportedly been dating since May, although they are keen to keep their romance out of the spotlight.
They arrived separately to last night’s awards ceremony, where they were both nominated for gongs – The Danish Girl actress was up for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, and was the first to arrive at the Royal Opera House in an eye-catching silver gown.
The Kerry actor, nominated for Best Actor for his role as Steve Jobs, arrived shortly afterwards looking very dapper in his black suit and bow tie. They both avoided being photographed together.
