Ronan Keating has warned his fans of fake accounts that are pretending to be the Irish singer.
The former Boyzone star revealed that the catfish pages are even trying to get money from vulnerable people.
The dad of four took to Twitter to reassure people it is not him who is behind the pages.
“Hey a few people telling me there are impersonators on social media pretending to be me trying to scam people out of money etc,” he said.
Adding: “It’s not me. My insta and Twitter have official blue ticks.”
He also shared a video on his Instagram stories with similar comments: “I hear there are quite a few people impersonating me on Instagram and Twitter and so on, pretending to be me looking for money and asking for favours and stuff, don’t get involved. My Insta has the official blue tick as does my Twitter.”
Supporters thanked Ronan for clarifying, with some revealing they’d been scammed before.
“An absolute menace in these social media times, there are numerous accounts parading as you. I get requests constantly, drives me nuts! People just need to be careful, & stick to your official accounts. On a light-hearted side, why on earth would YOU be asking for cash!? X” Lynn Sharples said on Twitter.
“I know they not you had contacts with one in insta asking strange questions, blocked him” another fan said.
“The same was a couple weeks ago But then with [Keith Duffy] Why do people that? Esmerelda asked.
Samantha added: “I have had one before he pretending to be Tom Hanks and there are some Olly Murs ones too so people be careful as I been fooled so now I know what to look for lucky I had a friend to help me,”
This is not the first time Ronan has had to warn fans about fake accounts.
Back in November, the musician shared a similar message asking people to report the fake pages.
“Please report all the fake Insta accounts. Mine is RoKeating with a blue tick. These people are asking for money from followers,” he said at the time.
