Niall Horan has posted a sweet message to mark his X Factor anniversary. The Mullingar native entered the singing competition at the tender age of 16.
Yesterday marked 7 years since the 23-year-old applied for the X Factor. As we know, while in the bootcamp stage of the competition Niall originally didn’t get through, and instead was put with 4 young lads.
Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik then formed One Direction- and the rest, as they say, is history!

Taking to social media yesterday the singer reminisced on his journey, and thanked fans for believing in him. On Twitter he wrote, “7 years ago I applied for the X Factor.. That is very hard to believe. All I can say is thank you so much, you changed my life.”
It’s been a whirlwind 7 years for Niall, who became a household name with 1D, and has now embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut single This Town last year.
