Liam Neeson sent the rumour mill into a spin this week after claiming that he would be spending Valentines Day with a mystery “incredibly famous” lover.
But it turns out that it was all a hoax, and the Taken star was joking all along – Goddammit, Liam!
Fans have been going wild ever since Liam announced to the Irish Independent that he was dating a top celebrity, and the rumour mill began pointing to Twilight star Kristen Stewart, but this was quickly shot down. There were also rumours and speculation that his leading lady could have been Susan Sarandon, Charlize Theron and even Madonna.
Today, a representative of the Irish actor finally cleared things up, by telling People magazine “he was joking with an Irish journalist while conducting an interview promoting a documentary, and the humorous tone of that statement did not translate in the printed version of the interview”. Who knew Liam was up for the LOL’s eh?
The Taken star tragically lost his wife, Natasha Richardson, in a skiing accident in 2009 and has been quiet about his private life ever since. It’s been confirmed that he is dating someone new, although she’s not particularly well-known. We’re happy he’s moving on and seems in a good place!
