Ruth O’ Neill has opened up about being in a relationship.

The former Xpose presenter went public with her boyfriend earlier this year and many speculated that it was the reason she left the TV3 show.

Speaking about her other-half Conor Murphy, Ruth described him as “the dream guy.”

She went on to explain what the two were like as a couple.

“We’re pretty different from each other but he was everything I had been looking for.

“He works in more of a serious job and he’s super smart. He’s very disciplined and I’m kind of the wild one.”

The presenter explained that moving to the UK after quitting her job was made easier by the fact that she had support in London.

“My boyfriend lives there so we don’t have to get on a plane to see each other any more. My sister and her husband live in London as well, so I know quite a few people, which is nice,” she told the Herald.

Ruth also opened up about how her career is going since leaving the Xpose team.

“At the moment, I’m having loads of of meetings and I’m getting set up with an agent. Even having the meetings, it’s fiercely competitive,” she explained.

“I think it’s going to be a challenge, but I think I have really good experience after working for Xpose. I mean, none of these things really happen overnight, they all take time.”

“I had been thinking about that decision for a really long time. It wasn’t something that just popped into my head, so I don’t have any regrets.

“I had a really good year, but personally and professionally I felt it was time to move on.”

A recent shake up in TV3 means that things are changing once again in Xpose, with the show being cut to three half-hour shows per week.

Ruth explained that she feels the change will be good for the team.

“I’m sure three episodes a week will work for them. It always felt like it was understaffed anyway. Everyone there works hard, so I’m sure there was a bit of relief,” she added.
