Yvonne Connolly has called for more representation on Irish television.

The presenter and celeb chef has said that Ireland is behind the times when it comes to featuring older women front and centre on chat shows.

“In America you get cookery shows with women hosting in their 50s and 60s who have a big following,” she told the Sun.

The star added that a diverse age range isn’t the only issue lacking on our screens.

“But it’s not just age, in general we seem to put ourselves in boxes over here.

“At the moment on Irish TV, the model has to be a certain type, or the presenter has to look a certain way.”

The 44-year-old added that the issue is not only in the media either.

“The woman doing politics has to have a very conservative look.”
