Top Irish model, Judy Fitzgerald was caught up in the midst of a coup in Istanbul last night.
The former Miss Bikini Ireland was enjoying herself on a holiday with pals when the coup took place.
The shocking event occurred late last night when the Turkish military launched a coup aimed at toppling the Turkish government, with nearly two hundred innocent civilians killed in the process.
Judy took to Instagram to share a video of of the scenes in Istanbul.
She captioned the video saying, “The government has fallen and has been taken over by the military here in Istanbul. Airports and everything have been shut what is the world coming to.”
The model relayed the experience to the Irish Independent saying, “It had been a normal day, we’d been out shopping and went for dinner but there was nothing out of the ordinary, nothing to suggest this would happen.
“We were in bed at about 3am local time when we got the phone call from home. People were checking to see if we were okay. We had to turn on the news to find out what was going on.”
