Una Healy has opened up about batting and overcoming postnatal depression.

The mum of two suffered from the illness after giving birth, but credits her husband Ben Foden for helping her though it.

“I got through my postnatal depression – thank God I did. Your family are there to be with you and support you through it all – and Ben was amazing.”

The 36-year-old told the Irish Mirror that it is different for every mother, but she is grateful she got through it.

“The depression is something that happens quite slowly. It is hard to describe because every individual is different.

“You’re in this dense fog. Other people get out of it but I went thicker and thicker into the fog,”

On a positive note, she added: “But I am in a very good place now, and that is all that matters.”

When the singer first opened up about it, she received loads of support from fans, something she said she feels ‘very lucky’ about.

“I wasn’t ready to speak about it until then,” she added.

Offering her own words of advice to anyone in a similar situation, she said:  “If anyone is going through it right now, you are not alone. Speak to someone about it. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, it’s quite a normal thing actually.

“Quite a few people reached out. A lot of people were feeling alone and I was lucky to get that feedback.”

Una and Ben have two children together six-year-old Aoife Belle and Tadhg, 3, but the singer reveals she has no plans to add to her brood.

“I’ve got loads of friends having babies and I can’t see any more on the horizon for me, I’m happy with my lot now.”

The Never See Me Cry singer recently revealed she and her family may be moving the US for Ben’s work.

“We are committed to going as a family. I don’t think we could live different lives in separate cities across the Atlantic. It wouldn’t be right,” she said.
