Saturday Night Live is reportedly set to be coming to Ireland.

Kite entertainment, the production company responsible for Gogglebox, has optioned the rights from NBC Universal to make an Irish version of the hugely popular live sketch show.

The show, which if commissioned will be the only other English speaking version of the original satirical hit, is being pitched to Irish broadcasters in the hope of getting in on our screens.

“We have the rights to go to pitch it to broadcasters and talk to talent about performing and writing for it,” Kite managing director Darren Smith told the Irish Times.

“There is always an appetite for satire here.”

SNL has been running in the US since 1975 and has welcomed a number of famous celebrities to host such as Justin Timberlake, Alec Baldwin, Betty White and Chris Rock.

We think this would be amazing!
