The secret to frizz free hair

Is your mane a nightmare to tame? We may have found the perfect solution...

hair, frizz

Online editor Michelle has been looking for the secret to frizz free hair for quite some time, and at long last, she has found it…

When it comes to taming my tresses, believe me, it’s a job. Blowdrying it is a workout, and when it comes to straightening, well lets hope you’re not in a rush.

What was once naturally curly turned to a frizzy kink over the years – so being able to rock a natural ‘do, was simply not an option.

Then I heard about the QOD 16 week blow dry, which basically promised to take away all my hair-styling woes, while injecting some much needed moisture into my tresses. Straight hair in a hurry? Even though it sounded too good to be true, best believe I was going to try it out.

The Treatment

For the treatment, I popped into Ultimate Hair and Beauty in Dublin, but if you’re not near the city centre, it’s available in a whole host of salon’s nationwide. The process takes between an hour and a half to two hours in total, so make sure you’ve plenty of time as it can’t be rushed.

Firstly, the hairdressers wash your hair and blast dry to ensure all remnants of styling products are gone. Then the treatment itself is brushed into the hair, section by section. After it’s left to set, the product is rinsed out and then the stylist will straighten your hair, piece by piece. A timely task, but a massively important step in the process.

You can’t get it wet for two days, so make sure you get it done well in advance of any sunshine holiday, as you won’t be able to dive into the pool right away. Another thing to be cautious of, is that this treatment will alter the colour of your hair slightly. My tresses were lightened during the process, so be weary of this if you’re very particular of your hair colour.

The Aftercare

After the treatment, the first wash and blow-dry was like a dream. A blast dry sufficed and there was little need for my much-loved GHD. My hair was done in less than five minutes, with not one strand out of place, and dry looking locks were a thing of the past.

This continued for weeks and weeks, and now, three months on, my hair is still reaping the benefits. Using the specific after-care products definitely helped here!

While the treatment is wearing out now – the GHD has been welcomed back, but the styling time has massively decreased – my hair remains shiny, frizz free and holds it’s shape more than ever.

Where has this been all my life?!
