Brendan O’Carroll has just revealed who’ll be replacing Rory Cowan on Mrs Brown’s Boys.

Earlier in the week Rory announced his departure from the show after 26 years, admitting he wasn’t sticking around for the live shows at the end of the year.

Brendan has found a replacement, and fans will get a look at the new Rory by the end of this year.

“For the four remaining venues in November and December the role will be played by Pat ‘Pepsi’ Shields who played Rory before Rory made it his own,” he confirmed in a statement.

“Following plastic surgery the new Rory will be unveiled on Christmas day in the Christmas special.”

Rory has spoken out about his reason for leaving the hit show, admitting he no longer enjoyed the touring aspect of the job.

“It was getting to the stage where I had been touring so much,” he told The Herald.

“We were covering the same routes and playing the same venues and it just got a bit dull and repetitive.

“Life on the road can be boring and I would be staying in apartments I didn’t really like. And the time off stage was dragging.

“If I stayed doing the tours, I would know what my life was going to be like until 2022. It would have been the same venues and places.

“But I can’t fault Brendan, and there was no falling out – and it definitely wasn’t about money.

“Brendan has been so generous to me. In fact, his generosity has enabled me to leave the show.”
