Many stars have spoken out about the disparity issue in recent weeks.

The best known names in RTE reportedly won’t be included in the gender pay gap review.

Workplace Relations Commission chief Kieran Mulvey will look into the pay of women and men in RTE to determine the pay gap between genders.

Staff members including Marian Finucane, Miriam O’Callaghan, Joe Duffy and Ryan Tubridy will not be included in the review.

The Irish Independent reports that this is because those named above do not have actual staff jobs and instead negotiated separate contracts.

Ryan Tubridy is said to be RTE’s highest paid earner from his work on TV with the Late Late show and his radio slot. He was paid €495,000 in 2014.

There has been lots of discussion around the pay disparity in recent weeks, after women in the media such as Sharon Ni Bheolain and Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh spoke out about the issue.

“I can confirm the 2014 pay disparity was accurate. However, this pay gap has since narrowed. In return for a pay rise, I have also undertaken extra duties.

“I believe that I am well remunerated, but, for the record, my pay is still considerably less than that of Bryan’s. I won’t be commenting further.” Sharon told the Sunday Independent.

The wage gap review is due to be finished in September.
