Westlife’s Nicky Byrne took to Instagram in honour of his parent’s wedding anniversary, sharing a sweet snap from their big day 50 years ago, and paying tribute to the couple.
The singer’s parents, Yvonne and Nicholas, married in 1973 and were together until Nicholas’ passing in 2009.
Sharing a photo of the couple as newlyweds, Nicky wrote: “Here’s my Mam & Dad on their wedding day,
June 30th 1973. 50 years ago today!!”
“Still just crazy to believe Dad’s not around…Happy ‘Golden’ Anniversary.”
“He’s defo smiling down today x,” he concluded.
Nicky has been open with fans about how his father’s death impacted him. The two were very close sharing many interests including music.
Last year, Nicky shared a video of his father performing That’s Life by Frank Sinatra with his fellow Westlife dads, to mark 13 years since his dad’s death.

Nicky also shared a photo of his late father, writing: “13 years today since we lost this legend. Miss ya Dad, ‘Do the Biz’ wherever you are.”
The singer’s father tragically passed away after suffering a heart attack in 2009.
