Lidl Ireland has issued a warning to customers as a scam text message has been doing the rounds.

The text, which appears to be from the supermarket giants, is a fake, and anyone who does get the message is being urged not to open it.

The company issued a statement on social media to urge customers to stay vigilant.

“Please do not open any texts that appear to have been sent by Lidl.” they said.

“As a company we don’t communicate any offers or information to customers via text so anything received via text message is most definitely a scam.

“The only offers and competitions we run can be found on our verified social media channels, our app and website.”

If any customer has any concerns regarding suspicious texts, they should call the customer service team on 1800 201080.
