Jennifer Zamparelli has shared her thoughts on who could be the next host for the Late Late Show. Now Ryan Tubridy is not giving up his place in the hot seat just yet, but as the chat show is approaching it’s 60th year on our screens it is certainly a topic that will be discussed more and more.

Chatting on her 2FM radio show this morning Jennifer shared that she has some thoughts on who could be next to take over on the RTE program and that she’d like to see Liveline’s Joe Duffy in the role.

“I really think Joe would be amazing because he has empathy, he’s good craic, he’s clever… he can do both, which is important.”

Continuing Jennifer added that she wouldn’t take the gig if she was offered it. The 41-year-old said; “Honestly, I wouldn’t take it. Can I be completely honest with you? It’s one of those gigs– this industry is great when you have potential.”

“You don’t want to be at the top. That’s a place you do not want to be. Because there’s only one way to go, and that is down. Your life changes dramatically when you’re at that level…”

Laughing she added; “Imagine me doing political segments. Imagine me doing that, I’d be ripping the p*ss, it just wouldn’t work.”

The Late Late is the longest running chat show in the world, so it’s a big decision when it comes to changing presenters. So far there have been three, Gay Byrne, Pat Kenny and of course Ryan Tubridy who has been doing it since 2009!

Last year saw Miriam O’Callaghan hosting the show whilst Tubridy was unwell, making her the first woman to ever take the reins of the program.

We’re sure we’re not alone when we say that we’d love to see a woman next..
