Gareth O’Callaghan has revealed he’ll be making a temporary return to radio this winter.

In August, the presenter stepped away from his show on Classic Hits due to ill health.

Gareth was diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy, which he describes as “a very rare neuro-degenerative disease that attacks and destroys the body’s central nervous system.”

He added “It’s incurable and progressive”, and he hopes to fight it for as long as he can.

Despite this, the broadcaster has confirmed he’ll be getting back in studio for a very good cause.

Taking to social media, Gareth said, “I’m back on air very soon just for a few days to present some shows for Christmas FM.

“It’s all in aid of Temple St Children’s Hospital this year. I’ve wanted to do this for almost ten years. Now at last! Thank you Santa. Let you know more very soon.’

The station aims to raise over €200,000 for the charity when it begins broadcast on November 28th.
