Doireann Garrihy took to social media last night to share an emotional story about her friend who is fighting cancer.
The Zoo Crew presenter took to Instagram stories to explain that her friend and coworker Georgie Crawford has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Doireann explains that Georgie helped her when she was new to the job and that the pair quickly became great friends.
She added that after Georgie was breastfeeding her daughter when she found a lump on her breast.
“You might be like this is not your story to tell,” Doireann said.
“But the reason I am talking about it is that she made a decision a few weeks ago where she was just basically like ‘I don’t want this to be my story, but this is my story so I’m going to spread the word and raise awareness as much as I can.’
“On a day to day basis, she’s been talking about it on Insta stories.
“Georgie starts chemo tomorrow,” Doireann said, getting visibly emotional.
“I don’t know how much she’s going to document, but give her the follow, because whether you’ve gone through it, or you are going through it, or you know someone who has or is, she could help you or you could help her.
“I just think the way she’s talking about it on a day to day basis on Insta stories is unbelievable, she’s being so open. The bottom line is she’s going to get through it and next Summer we’ll be going for all the drinks.”
