Daniel O’Donnell has revealed that despite his superstar status, daughter Siobhán was constantly embarrassed by him when she was growing up.
Although Siobhan and Daniel have a great relationship, Daniel admits to TVNow Magazine that she would always be mortified by his antics when she was younger, especially when it came to his behavior around her boyfriends.
Speaking exclusively to our sister magazine, he said, “I remember when she brought her first boyfriend home, I said to Siobhan, ‘When will I sing when he comes? Will I sing when I meet him at the door or when we’ve shown him around?’
“She was going mad. God love her, she was afraid I was going to embarrass her at the wedding.”
Luckily for Daniel, he is no longer seen as the embarrassing dad and got to perform at his beloved daughter’s nuptials.
He said, “It was a lovely day and we all had a great time and just enjoyed it immensely. Gavin is a lovely fella, so we’re delighted for her and for them. I sang at the ceremony.”
Daniel and Majella have also taken on the role of babysitters for the duration of Siobhán’s honeymoon. While they absolutely adores little Olivia, Daniel is looking forward to relaxing again once his granddaughter is back with her parents.
He said, “I was up at about a quarter to six this morning making a bottle. It’s great but I tell you something, it’s a young man’s game. We’ll be wrecked after the nine days now when they get back -we’ll be in shape for a good sleep when they get back.”
