VIP Style Awards 2017

Alannah Beirne perfectly handled a negative situation on social media.

The star, who is naturally slender expressed her desire to build up a strong physique.

She said: “So as promised from last weeks poll I said I’d post up a weekly photo of my body transformation, gradually from working and training hard every week I’ll achieve my goal of getting a healthy low body fat percentage.

“Hopefully get abs or even just a healthier/stronger physic. Since starting my journey on #dwtsirl it’s increased my energy AND my mental well being.

“I’ve had a day off today but tomorrow it’s straight back to the studio to practice a VERY fast-paced dance. Wish me luck!”

While many praised the Naas woman for sharing her progress, some negative comments came rolling in about her ‘concerning’ and ‘skinny’ figure.

One particular person commented that she is a bad role model for young girls.

“This is very concerning,” the follower said.

She added: “We shouldn’t be encouraging young girls to look like this. I have 2 young daughters and I don’t want them to grow up seeing this all over the internet and thinking that being this skinny is attractive or ‘perfection’

“It is so worrying. Please be healthy and look after your body!”

Rather than hit out at the commenter or accuse her of being rude (as some fans did), Alannah politely replied explaining why there is nothing wrong with her body.

“I really appreciate your opinion and completely understand where you’re coming from,” the model said.

She went to explain why she shared the pic and added that she is in fact healthy.

“I can tell you I’m a healthy weight according to my BMI… still! I’m dancing every day so I put up a poll last week to ask my followers if they would like to see my fitness/toning progress each week. My weight has always been up and down but never underweight.

“My intentions over the next few weeks is to tone up, feel good, strong, fit and be a happy healthy size. I eat four times a day because I need to with all the training I’m doing. I do look after my body, it’s my job to. I’m far from perfection but what I do want to get across is how good and happy you feel working out each day, no matter what size you are. This is my fitness journey!! Xx”

Fair play to Allanah for being so mature in her response.

The model is currently taking part in Dancing with the Stars and is set to dance for the third time on Sunday.
