Christine Lampard has opened up about the joy of finding out she was expecting her first child with husband Frank Lampard.
The TV presenter admitted she wasn’t sure she would get pregnant.
“You get to a stage where you don’t think about it and think well maybe it’s just not going to happen, but suddenly when it does and it involves the whole family… it’s the first grandchild for my parents, and my sister as an auntie is very excited too”
Frank has two young daughters from his previous relationship, but Christine says they are very excited about their new sibling.
“They are just completely beside themselves, genuinely, more so than I thought they would be, but it does have to be a girl apparently,” she laughed.
I said I can’t guarantee that but they are desperate for a little girl and are constantly talking to the belly, they have a lovely relationship with my belly,” she joked.
Speaking on ITV Lorraine, she admitted that she wanted to make sure the pregnancy test was correct.
“I had one in the house at the time and then it must have been about five or six after that, even then it didn’t quite count I was looking at them thinking this can’t be real.”
The 39-year-old admitted she was hesitant to reveal their baby news, until she felt it was safe.
“As anyone going through this, I can’t help but be a bit anxious, [I kept it quiet for a while] because I wanted to go for the big scan and told that hopefully told that everything is okay,
“I was really tentative before I announced something and then something happening, of course, we know that can happen at any stage but I wanted to get as far as I could and tell the girls and everything else, but so far so good.”
Speaking about her husband’s reaction to the news, she said: “He cannot wait. He’s very excited daddy-to-be and because the girls are so into it too. We’re a unit and we’re all in this together. We feel very grateful.”
