Fair City fans have been on the edge of their seats ever since one of the soap’s leading ladies, Katy O’Brien, was kidnapped back in May – and now RTÉ have released a shortlist of her potential captors.
The budding journalist, played by actress Amilia Clarke Stewart, went missing after discovering her mother, Debbie, was having an affair with neighbor Tommy Dillon.
Katy threatened to reveal their illicit affair to her father but took off to Galway shortly after and was never seen again.
Back in September, on the soap’s 4,000th episode, it was revealed that Katy has been kept captive since May and now RTÉ have narrowed down the list of suspects:
Tommy Dillon
The show’s resident lothario has demonstrated worrying behavior in the past, after he stalked his ex-wife Judith and held her and new boyfriend Bob at gun point. Could Tommy have gone to similar extreme measures so that his sordid affair with Debbie would be kept a secret?
Cathal Spillane
Cathal has been one of the biggest villans the show has seen in a long time. After taking over management of the Ballintine Hotel, he unleashed his reign of terror on his employees, including Katy’s mum, Debbie. When Debbie discovered Cathal’s dodgy dealings in the hotel, she threatened to expose him and he’s had an axe to grind with her family ever since.
Oisin Brennan
Paul Brennan’s son has been wreaking havoc on the soap ever since he reprised his role earlier this year. Oisin and girlfriend Charlotte Bishop have shown their sinister sides by tormenting a number of leading characters on the show and initially, the Gardaí named him as their number one suspect in Katie’s case because he sent a text to her phone on the night of the disappearance. Although the focus has been taken off Oisin, the master manipulator is still seen as one of Katy’s potential captors.
Stella Lyons
Katy went on a few dates with Stella right before she went missing, but then discovered her new love interest was involved in a stabbing a few years ago – which caused a major ruckus between the pair. Stella was left angry with Katy after the budding journalist tried to interview her about the stabbing and shortly after this row she was reported missing.
Ciaran Holloway
Although Ciaran is a newbie on the show, he has become one of the main suspects in Katie’s disappearance due to this ever growing relationship with the O’Brien family. He has managed to forge a close relationship with each member of the family but no one knows why he’s made such a conscious effort to befriend them.
