What sunscreen is right for you; a guide to SPF

The sun is shining and it’s time to break out that bottle of sunscreen that you haven’t touched since August 2022.

We all know that sunscreen is important but it’s hard to figure out what products can work best for your screen.

Don’t worry we are here to help you girlies keep your happy and healthy skin all summer long.

Here is a rundown of everything you need to know about SPF for the summer.

What is SPF?

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. The SPF rating on a product determines how much of the sun’s harmful rays will penetrate through the barrier product and actually reach your skin.

For example, SPF 50 allows 1/50 of the sun’s harmful rays to reach the skin.

What SPF should I use?

It depends on your skin tone and how long you will be out in the sun.

The more fair skin you have the more SPF protection you will need.

If you are very fair and tend to burn easily; you should use SPF 30 if you are out and about for only a short time but if you plan on spending a few hours outside you should opt for SPF 100.

If you have darker skin and rarely burn, you will only need at most SPF 30 if you are spending a few hours in the sun.

Obviously, these are general guidelines and the actual protection will depend on how often you top up your sun cream. Make sure you read the instructions on each individual product.
