Viewers were left teary-eyed after last night’s Late Late Show, when Kathy Shine told the heartwarming story of how she won a car for her ill brother on the show last week.
On last week’s show, a Renault car worth €20,000 was being raffled off and out of 200,000 entries Kathy’s name was drawn -and the back story behind the win is lovely.
The Late Late show fan approached Ryan during the week to give him a thank you card after he announced her big win and the chat show host was so amazed by her story that he asked her to come on the show and tell it to the nation.
Kathy explained to the audience that she entered the competition to win the car so her brother who suffers from MS, could update his disability van. She then went on to tell viewers she asked her late mum to help her win the prize.
“I sat up bolt right in the bed, and I said “Mum, I am begging you, please let him pick up my card so I can give it to Michael to update his disability van,” she told Ryan.
The devoted sister then went on to say that she couldn’t believe it when the talk show host read out her name.
“When you first said Katy I thought ‘Oh no, someone called Kathy got it’, but then you read out Katy Shine, Green Park, Walkinstown and it was me, I won the car for Michael.”she told Ryan.
