Daniel O’Donnell made his dancing debut on Strictly Come Dancing last night to When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, and really impressed the judges – well most of them.
“Your hold could be stronger, but your footwork was the best I’ve seen,” said head judge Len Goodman when the Irish crooner finished waltzing around the studio with his partner Kristina Rihanoff.
Bruno Tonoli said, “It was very collected, very well placed and very, very pleasing.”
The compliments on Daniel’s dancing continued as former ballerina Darcey Bussell said, “You danced like the perfect gentleman. I know there are nerves out there, but just relax your back and look at Kristina as much as you can.”
However Craig Revel-Horwood wasn’t as impressed as the other judges and claimed it was “pretty uneventful.”
Daniel received a score of 24/40, and joked, “I’m happy it’s done. I’m excited now, you just can’t tell.”
Just hours before the show, Daniel was feeling “nervous as hell,” but those jitters certainly didn’t come across during his performance as you can see from this video:
The show continues tonight on BBC One at 9pm.
