VIP readers and students make fashion feel good at Aparto’s sustainable fashion show

Were you at aparto’s sustainable fashion show in Dublin this week? If not, you missed out.

The Feel Good Fashion event, attended by some lucky VIP readers, took place in aparto’s student residence at Beckett House in Dublin 1 – and was attended by a mix of sustainable VIPs, competition winners, and fashion lovers.

aparto has always been committed to being as sustainable as possible and is conscious to be a part of a greener way of living. They want their students to feel proud of living in an environmentally friendly space and to encourage their residents to practice sustainability in their own lives too.

This week’s circular fashion event was hosted by stylist Irene O’Brien in the Beckett House social space, and featured music from DJ Steven Cooper, delicious cocktails from Teeling Whiskey, and free goodie bags for guests. Two lucky attendees were also awarded a special prize for having the Best Sustainable Style. It’s safe to say that everyone dressed to impress.

Before the event, stylist Irene said that she was thrilled to work with aparto on the project for the second year in a row.

I am thrilled to be involved in aparto‘s fashion event for a second year in a row, which celebrates not only circular fashion but also the organisation’s culture of sustainability and community,” she said.

“I have been so impressed by the commitment of both the students and the team in cultivating an environment in which everyone is mindful of their footprint. They are leading the way by taking practical and stylish steps to ensure that their impact is one that is kinder to the environment whilst also offering practical solutions to students’ fashion needs. And what better way to celebrate it than a second-hand fashion showcase and thrifting event? It’s going to be fantastic in Dublin!”

The fashion show went down a hit and even featured a surprise runway dance number at the end. Incredible scenes.

Proceeds raised on the night will go towards charity partners Oxfam and the Irish Cancer Society.

Meryem Aslan, Oxfam spokesperson, thanked aparto for raising vital funds to help those affected by the recent devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

“Over 13 million people in Turkey and many more in Syria have been impacted,” they said. “This initiative and guests on the night support will enable Oxfam to act quickly to alleviate suffering, and to provide life-saving essentials like temporary shelter, hygiene kits and emergency cash transfers to ensure families and communities can survive the immediate impact of this catastrophe.

“And by shopping at the Feel Good Fashion Event, not only did guests bag a bargain, they also shopped sustainably doing their bit for people and planet by helping divert clothes from landfill!”

Claire Bowman, Corporate Partnerships Manager at the Irish Cancer Society added: “We are delighted to be partnering with aparto on their sustainable fashion showcase and thrifting event.

“It’s great to be involved in an event like this that aligns with our own values around caring for our communities and environment. The funds raised will play a vital role in providing free support services and care to people affected by cancer while also helping to develop ground-breaking cancer research.”
